OUR Story

Weekly Date Night Dilemma
Each year we picked a new theme that guided our dining decisions, whether it was by neighborhood, price, or simply picking one busy street with tons of dining options that we could explore for the year. But in 2025 we couldn’t decide what the theme should be.

Erik, who loves to gamify everything, grabbed a pen and an old deck of cards. He and his date wrote down a bunch of dining ideas, and suggested that they draw one. That simple act of leaving the decision to chance became the first prototype of Fork in the Road.

The OG Playing Cards.

The First Playtests
They brought the idea out with friends — and the response was immediate: it was fun, it was chaotic, it sparked laughter. It turned dining decisions, usually a source of indecision or debate, into an adventure.

MMM. Dinner on the water - Great choice!

Testing different cards!

Playing Fork in the Road - Dine under$30, this was actually under $13!

From Modified to Official Cards
Within a month, the prototype evolved into a full deck. The cards were refined with cleaner design, fun icons, and special twists like:

  • Phone a Friend — call someone you trust with your palette, go with their decision.

  • Draw 2 More — add chaos with extra choices.

What began a pen and old deck of cards is now a polished, illustrated deck ready for dining tables everywhere. We are finalizing our first run of 250 decks including a colorful graphic tuck box for easy storage and travel.

Why Back This Game?
Because we all know the struggle: “Where should we eat?” Fork in the Road takes away the stress and turns it into entertainment. Every draw is a chance for something new, whether you’re eating with friends, a partner, or even solo.
